We coach people to develop their emotional intelligence, to manage negative emotions more effectively, to achieve more positive results, and to improve their communication skills.
There are so many companies struggling right now as a result of the change and uncertainty brought about by remote, virtual, hybrid and modern working practices. Resilience and team cohesion are disintegrating as people are divided, working in isolation and losing trust and rapport with their colleagues. Decision-making and motivation are being affected as team members are losing their sense of purpose, and direction, and people are afraid of making mistakes. Job dissatisfaction and employees voluntarily quitting their jobs is at an all time high. People are no longer competing for jobs, companies are competing for people, and are under stress to retain talent.
We set up the Sailboat Navigation System to help businesses understand the impact of emotional intelligence and culture on performance. Our mission is to help leaders and managers recognise, process, and channel thoughts and emotions to help solve modern workplace issues and get their people connecting and working together better.
Sailboat Navigation
The Sailboat Navigation System is based on positive psychology and cognitive behavioural techniques. It is an exploration of thinking patterns and the effect they have on our emotions and behaviour. It is designed to help train the mind to be fitter to enable us to develop more efficient coping strategies and solutions. In the same way that our bodies need the right fuel and exercise for optimum performance, our thoughts, emotions and beliefs also need to be trained, in order for us to operate effectively.
Emotional Intelligence
Emotional intelligence (E.Q.) is the ability to identify, understand, and manage emotions in positive ways to relieve stress, communicate effectively, empathise with others, overcome challenges, and defuse conflict. Most companies pay little attention to how employees are or should be ‘feeling’. They don’t realise how central emotions are to building the right culture, and often it’s not managed at all. Companies suffer as a result. Establishing effective team culture is crucial… particularly when there isn’t a building at the heart of it.
Business Emotional Intelligence is a practical, work-based approach to emotions that help individuals and teams understand why people behave the way they do and how to maximise their engagement with, and performance at, work.

1-2-1 Coaching
Sailboat offer a bespoke coaching plan to help you to identify and resolve emotional issues at work. Experienced managers will already understand the value of coaching, but may have focussed more on skills and career coaching, or perhaps have only been offered ‘wellbeing’ and ‘one-size-fits-all’ resources that fail to give real insight or action plans to help a team that is sliding off the peak of its full potential. Sailboat is both performance and solution focused. With greater insight into the relationship between thoughts, feelings and behaviours, you are better placed to tackle challenges in the modern workplace.
The Sailboat Navigation Course
‘The Business of Emotions, Thoughts and Behaviours in the Modern Workplace’… This is a hybrid coaching programme (online with 1-2-1 support) for team leaders and managers, taking you step by step through the Sailboat Navigation System to help you solve various workplace issues that have evolved due to remote and hybrid working practices and weakened work relationships. It helps you and your team build emotional intelligence and cohesion at work and shows you how to coach your team members to be better, not just feel better.
